Holy Spirit2Pentecost

Gospel – John 20:19-23

On the evening of that first day of the week, when the doors were locked, where the disciples were, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in their midst and said to them, “Peace be with you.” When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. The disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord. Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you.” And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them, and whose sins you retain are retained.”

The Holy Spirit comes upon the apostles – the member of the Trinity that is always with us! Christ has asked Him to remain with us always. To lead our lives, guide our right decisions. To help calm our hearts, show us the way, and give us peace in Him.

As a busy Catholic mom, I feel in great need of the Holy Spirit in my life all the time. I need Him to give me His gifts so that His fruits in my life may be evident to others. I need to him to grace me with patience, compassion, peace in my heart. I need His light to guide my every word and deed so that I may follow God’s will and show my children, I pray, by the example of my efforts, the pathway to Heaven.
