Gospel – Mark 6:30-34

The apostles gathered together with Jesus
and reported all they had done and taught.
He said to them,
“Come away by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while.”
People were coming and going in great numbers,
Jesus teaching3and they had no opportunity even to eat.
So they went off in the boat by themselves to a deserted place.
People saw them leaving and many came to know about it.
They hastened there on foot from all the towns
and arrived at the place before them.

When he disembarked and saw the vast crowd,
his heart was moved with pity for them,
for they were like sheep without a shepherd;
and he began to teach them many things.

Sometime as a mom, we just want to be alone – not for long, just for a few minutes.  Being alone is rare, even if it’s a quick trip into the restroom, because there are little ones who need us and our attention.  We do need to sneak in those moments to recharge, even if it is to step outside onto the front porch or sit in your closet for a minute.  But then, like Jesus, we see the need in our little ones’ eyes and know that we have to be there to care for them and love them despite our desire for some me time.  Jesus will replenish and renew us in those two or three minutes we sneak in to give us the strength we have to fulfill his vocation for us.
