Ten Easy Ways to Fast

Fasting can be difficult, especially for 40 days!  But we can also just add the practice of fasting to our lives in little ways every day.

  1. Avoid snacks for a day.Lent5
  2. Walk away from or redirect conversations that start to talk about others.
  3. Resist the temptation to have second helpings.
  4. Just once a day, give up checking social media.
  5. Fast from speaking or thinking badly of someone else.
  6. Refrain from that sprinkle of salt.
  7. Drive past that tempting fast food treat.
  8. Pour yourself a cup of water instead of grabbing that caffeinated beverage.
  9. Turn off the television a half hour earlier and get some extra sleep.
  10. Every time you successfully choose to fast, offer up your suffering in prayer for someone.
