Key Lime Pie

key lime pieWould you like a yummy fresh dessert?  Key lime pie is yummy and fun to make!

If you don’t want your kids to help crush all the limes, you can just use regular lime juice in a bottle!

 

Ingredients:

Graham cracker crust

1 can of sweetened condensed milk

Lime juice (juice from 3 medium limes or 12 small key limes)

3 egg yolks

2 drops of green food coloring

Beat milk and egg yolks until mixed.  Stir in juice and food coloring.  Pour crust and bake at 375 for 10-15 minutes until set

 

Meringue:

Beat 3 egg whites until they can set on their own.

Gradually stir in ¼ c of sugar until meringue forms stiff peaks.

Place on lime layer and bake in oven for about 5 minutes until golden brown.

Cool 15 minutes or chill before serving.
