Caramel Layered Brownies

caramel brownies14 oz. caramels

¾ c butter

German chocolate cake mix

2/3 c evaporated milk

1 c semisweet chocolate chips

 

Melt caramels with 1/3 c  evaporated milk over a double boiler.  Remove from heat.

Combine cake mix, butter and 1/3 c of evaporated milk.  Press half of dough into a 9 x 13” greased and flured pan.  Bake 6 minutes at 350o.

Sprinkle chocolate chips, spread caramel and crumble remaining dough.

Bake 15-18 minutes.

Refrigerate until set.
